About Stanbic Accelerate Incubator
Accelerate is a flagship asset of Stanbic Bank Botswana launched in 2019 as a major investment in creating shared value and changing the narrative around youth. It was created to contribute towards our Social Economic and Environment (SEE) responsibility. It was established to serve underserved youth and entrepreneurs, to help combat youth unemployment and support the scaling of small to medium enterprises through coaching, mentoring, access to markets, business growth programmes and access to funding.
Our impact areas
Accelerate is more focused on 4 impact areas in which we believe that Stanbic Bank can make a significant positive SEE impact across Botswana.
Capacity building
Empowering entrepreneurs with practical skills, knowledge, and confidence to grow sustainable businesses. Through interative training initiatives, Accelerate strengthens the capacity of both youth and SMEs to thrive in Botswana’s economy.
Market penetration
Empowering entrepreneurs with practical skills, knowledge, and confidence to grow sustainable businesses.
Advisory and mentoring
Helping entrepreneurs break barriers and access new markets. Accelerate creates platforms and partnerships that link local enterprises to broader value chains, driving visibility, growth, and inclusive economic participation.
Access to Funding
Through grant funding programs and CEEP funding.

A place where the users of the space engage on collaborative development of new value (concepts, solutions) promoting a culture of it being them who solve the challenges that they are faced with.

Accelerate offers access to resource persons, knowledge and information channels/ platforms currently not pre- disposed to.
About
Stanbic Bank Botswana (SBB) is a member of the Standard Bank Group. It opened its doors as Stanbic Bank Botswana in Broadhurst, in March 1992 and has been in operation for over 31 years. The Bank’s sustainability and success are inextricably linked to the prosperity and wellbeing of all.
To achieve our purpose, our core business activities must support and contribute to this prosperity and wellbeing. The reality facing us is that the Bank’s business activities have wide and far-reaching SEE impacts in the economies and communities in which we operate. We are committed to understanding these impacts and we seek to make a sustainable impact through an Incubator. The Stanbic Bank Accelerate Incubator opened its doors in October 2019.

The sole vision is to support entrepreneurs and youth in accessing mentorship, coaching, access to networking, markets and funding in one central place. The space was designed with a view to creating a favourable environment for the business in its first years of existence, also ensuring the growth of the enterprise into the competitive market in a gradual and programmatic way.
Designed to drive inclusive growth by creating the foundations for a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem, the incubator operates based on four pillars:
- Inclusive Growth- Promote inclusive growth across all pillars, such as gender, youth and informal sector inclusion.
- Acceleration- To identify high potential companies for scalability and support to unlock challenges for growth.
- Thought Leadership- The incubator acting as a leader in the entrepreneurship by hosting thought-provoking events, publishing research and contributing to industry dialogues.
- Collaborative Innovation- Encourage cross-industry collaboration that can lead to new solutions, products and opportunities for entrepreneurs in the co-working space.
- Ideation- The Accelerate Incubator enables the entrepreneurs across the levels (start-up, mid-operational and high operating businesses)
